2010 Newsletter Page 1

Dear Members,

It’s really hard to believe how fast time is flying by.  Last month we had a great great Voice of Democracy and Patriot Pen event and ceremony.  One gigantic thank you and a job well done go out to our chairpersons Debbie & Steve Lewis – great job.  Looking forward to working with our super volunteers the rest of this year and next.  Speaking of volunteers – I’m sure you get tired of reading this – but we do have a tremendous group of people – who give up their spare time – so, we can enjoy the experience of a terrific friendly VFW Post with the best programs, meals, events, and canteen.  As you’re coming in and enjoying - please take the time to give them a big thank you and a tip won’t hurt either.!

By now, if you been into the Post, you’ve probably notice things are slowly but surely leaving.  Walls looking a little bare, chairs & tables gone, etc., not gone just relocated.  The paper work and a few other things are taking a little longer then we had hoped but we are moving forward to our new home and when it all comes together – it’ll go real fast.  We have had many volunteers ask to help in the move.  With things being done at the new home (most the major construction finished) – it’s really hard to schedule work crews at the beginning of the month.  So, as we need volunteers the best we can offer is to post the kind of help needed and when on our sign board at the end of the bar at the post.  Just stop in from time to time and check it out or call the post – if they’re working – we’ll let you know.  For all those of you who have volunteered already and have us to the point where we are - thank you very very much.  You’re the best.!! We’ll be moving soon – keep checking.

One last topic I would like to bring up in this newsletter letter – is MEMBERSHIP.!!  I know some our setting back saying things like:  Well I never go in anymore, I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I haven’t the time, etc.. This isn’t the way it works – by paying your dues and even staying home – you’re making sure we our getting our entitlements we earned while servicing our Country.  We’re speaking for all of our brothers that can’t but wish they could. There’re over 58,000 on black granite, how many are walking through the Korean Monument and this isn’t even counting our fellow comrades honored at the WWII Monument in Washington, D.C., that wish they could speak.  Yes, your dues do matter and they do more then you may think. You’re part of an elite group working for our fellow Veterans.  This isn’t even counting all the personal benefits you acquire by just being a member of the elite – you fought for it then – you should keep fighting for it now.  Just give it some thought and take a stand, your buddy did and has your back.

As always if you have any questions, comments or suggestions please feel free to contact me anytime.  Thanks and best always.

Hello Members,

Thank you to everyone who helped and participated in the Tandy Parish Dart Tournament.  As you are aware that all the proceeds were donated to Hospice of the Valley.  Don't forget to recognize the local business and members who made the event a success.

Look forward to the next events that are planned for the month of February and come and support Hillbilly night, plus all the other activities the Post does during the month and future activities planned.  With our upcoming move we are always in need of some help.  Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 5:30.  It is important to get involved and know what your Men's Auxiliary upcoming events are or if you have suggestions.
